Are you strapped in?
…coz it’s gonna be an awesome weekend!!!
All across Australia, ceramic artists are throwing open their studios and wiping down well, every surface in preparation for this weekend.
“Some of the world’s most significant moments have included mud, from the biblical creation of Adam to that famous mind altering festival at Woodstock and although we find ourselves in an age of rapidly advancing technologies, this humble, sticky stuff, continues to inspire and obsess thousands of makers throughout the world who still call themselves ‘potters’.
This August, hundreds of potters across Australia will open their studios to the public over a weekend that promises to be a celebration of clay, creativity and community. The event is hosted by The Australian Ceramics Association (TACA).
Over 130 ceramics studios around the nation have registered for the Australian Ceramics Open Studios – from well-known exhibiting artists to lesser known skilled artisans, from inner city studios to regional pottery groups..”
And I am one of those makers participating in this year’s Open Studio!
I am stoked to be joining Stephanie Outridge Field at her Clayfield studio. Together we will be demonstrating both wheel-throwing and hand-building processes as well as glazing and firing too. Steph will be debuting her new gallery space and we’re so keen to have a chat and a cuppa and share the mud love!
Last year, I visited Steph’s open studio and it’s felt rather crazy to be helping her prepare and moving my wheel in the studio space there for this year event!
We’ll be ready for you from 10am on Sat, running til 4pm – same time on Sunday. If you click here, a new window will pop up and you’ll see the official event information 🙂
